No space for a window or for walls

Living in the city, my view of the sky is usually obscured by objects — walls, buildings, trees. I wanted to make a room where someone will have a clear view of the sky in every direction, around and below, suspended completely.

I think of this room as a metaphor for the state of being emptied of self (with no need to grasp onto a non-existent security).

Looking at the sky is part of the Tibetan practice of phowa ('transference of consciousness').  [Source: Tibetan Book of Living and Dying]
